Hi All,

Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong area, I was sure there was an insurance forum? I have just got a quote on a Nissan Micra 1.3 SE Auto 2000 (W reg) for my GF and I. I have 10 years no claims and have had my license for 11 with no convictions. She has never had a policy and has had her license (German/EU) for 7 years (Having never drove in that period)

The car is worth 1300 quid and I almost refuse to pay the quotes I am getting but perhaps that's the norm?

What are my options? Should I go fully comprehensive and with this just set up a policy where others can drive it without having to be noted? I am not sure if this is possible?

Many questions, just hoping that some of you may have been in the same boat

Cheers

I'd try fully comp quotes, when I went fully comp when I was younger it worked out cheaper than TPFT.

Also claim the car is worth 2 grand as that knocks a lot off the price

Wouldn't it be cheaper if she transferred her licence to a UK one?

If she has been in the UK for over a year she will legally need a UK licence anyway

I may be wrong but I don't think that is the case for an EEC licence.

Sorry yes its 1 year on non eu licence its 5 years as a resident on EU licences then you have to get an UK licence. Unless you're over 65 then it's 12 moths still.

I took your advice and got it down to 550 fully comp for the both of us on the policy.

As for license change lets see, may not be here for any longer than a year anyway.

Thanks
