To the lorry driver on the A419 this morning

Indicating and changing lanes at the same time to overtake a bicycle is unacceptable.
Being inches away from wiping out a mother of 2 because you couldn't check your fking mirrors is unacceptable.
Not apologising to the driver you caused to take emergency evasive action because of the above is unacceptable.

Next time you decide to not engage your half-loaded braincell before making a manoeuvre which is likely to deprive a family of the car's occupants, the driver of the car may not be alert as the driver of the Golf you very nearly wiped out this morning.

Hand in your licence at the soonest opportunity and get a job delivering flyers, you fking cocktard.

I'd suggest that, given the car driver was able to avoid the collision and realise the lorry driver was a fking idiot, that the observation skill was certainly greater on the part of the former rather than the latter.

As I said, I'm absolutely certain that many other drivers wouldn't have been quite so lucky. But of course, all PHers are driving gods so we would have done thing completely differently.

+1, If I was approaching an LGV and saw a much slower road user ahead, I'd be backing off pretty sharply. Op, not trying any of the usual PH point scoring but if you expect everyone else to take responsibility for your safety then you are likely to get plenty more nasty suprises.

I expect poor driving from Doris in her Micra or Claude in his 206, but this sort of thing from a professional driver is pathetic.

So many very good professionals out there but instances such as these do appear to be on the increase, based on the anecdotes I hear and read.

O/P has shown poor observational skills and not checked the road ahead to see if its safe to overtake. The second lane is, afterall, an overtaking lane. One of the fundamentals of driving i'd have thought.

What did the O/P want the lorry to do, drive over the cyclist???

Read my post above. I wasn't the driver.

If it's not safe to pass a cyclist, or any other road user, you wait until there's a gap when it's safe to do so.
This instance would have taken all of 5 seconds. But no, heaven forbid a lorry has to drop a gear and show some patience.

Surely the GOLF made a dangerous manoeuvre by overtaking a lorry when there was a slow moving vehicle (cyclist) coming up?

Would it have been better that he drove over the cyclist?
