Which is a better car to buy?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I am going to be selling my Ep3 Civic Type R, and am thinking about what replacement car.
My two shortlist choices are:
- Celica GT4 ST205
- MR2 T-Bar Turbo Rev3
Has anyone owned both? I cant seem to think which one is better, one hand you have a AWD rallying coupe, on the otherhand you have a mid engined RWD go-kart. my budget is about £3k, but I need forced induction and a car on a M reg or after! Two other options are a S14 200sx, or a R33 GTST, but for some reason I have in my head that the Toyota engines are the most bulletproof?
FYI I would like to track this car in the future- when I can afford a MK4 Supra TT6
Cheers,
Med

The GT-4 has proper rally pedigree, is a 2+2 coupe, so can carry 4 people, is AWD. And in stock trim setup as a more of a GT vehicle than out and out sports car or tarmac tearing rebel.
Very capable, rare and great looking.
The MR2 is a 2 seater only, also more GT'ish compared to previous MR2's, but a lot lighter and more nimble than the GT-4. Less weight makes it faster with a better power to weight ratio. It's also going to feel quite different to drive being mid engined and rwd.
The GT-4 will have more roll, less grip and more tendency to understeer, although you can probably be very aggressive with them and the AWD will give you superior traction in the wet or slippery conditions.
The MR2 will prefer a lighter more gentle touch and a more precise touch. Lots and lots of grip with less roll, but more tendency to snap oversteer when you go past the limit of grip.

I dont need 4 seats, but suppose they could always come in handy, but then so would a T-bar top!
Anyone else owned any of the above? all I know is that people who have had the cars, have kept them!!
