Ah, the joys of selling privately:

I've got a 1997 Merc SLK in the Classifieds for £2800. Not big money, not a mint car, just an honest sale but that's an aside here.

Got a call today:
"We're looking to buy an SLK for a film shoot. Would you have any objection to an AA inspection?"
"No, that'd be fine."
"OK, when's convenient?"
"Evenings or weekends are best."
"OK, what's your address?"
<Here, I gave my address - this may have been stupid>
"OK, thanks, we'll be in touch."

The conversation was a little longer and quite genial, he was making notes and sounded like he was in an office. They've come away with my name and phone number, and I've got his mobile (for what it's worth).

Does that sound weird? What would they have to gain from knowing where I keep a not-too-desirable sub-£3k car?

That was much my thought - my bullst alarm was ringing when he mentioned 'filming' but I couldn't see an issue with telling him where my (locked & alarmed) car was parked at night - if he's a thief who can't even find cars, that's the kind I /want/ trying my doorhandles...

To close this one out: man came, assessed whether the car would look photogenic while having golf balls thrown at it, exchanged cash and drove the car away. Good job.

Golf balls? Any idea what your former P&J will be starring in?
