Cars make you fat.

Not sure why, but one of the local rags gives over a couple of pages propaganda for the lycra nutjobs to go all self righteous.

On the left was a bicycle diagram, and the words: "This one runs on fat and saves you money".
On the right was the outline of a car, and the words: "This one runs on money and makes you fat".
I have to say, this is now the desktop background on my computer. And it is so true. People who use a bicycle regularly are fitter and healthier.[/i]
This bit...
Now, a bicycle is the most efficient vehicle ever designed, Dr MacKay's book even suggests that I do the equivalent of about 1000 miles per gallon while on my bike.
...reminded me of this video...

Cyclist need to be more efficient if theyre only getting 1000mpg though, cars are catching up. It might be more efficient to drive afterall. http://www.switched.com/2008/03/24/high-schoolers-...

Come on OP, surely you can construct a better argument than that?
Using your own muscles to get around has to be better for you than sitting in a large metal box for two hours every day.
I'm a pedalhead as well as a petrolhead, as are many on this site. There are many reasons to use a car instead of a bike. Distance, need to carry goods, need to transport offspring and so on. But those aren't the reasons why PH'ers like cars. Sitting in traffic, even while drinking Red Bull, stroking your luxuriant goatee and realising that your 335d (mapped) conveys just the right level of powerfully builtness is not PH.
On the other hand, being slightly contemptuously faster than powered traffic just might be.

i was thin till i got a job further away and stopped cycling to work, and because it's further away i have less time to exercise. not exercising and eating too much makes me fat.
No, not exercising wouldn't make you fat. It's the eating too much that will make you fat. Not exercising will result in you becoming fat which is not the same as making you fat. It's an interesting issue that the graffiti raises - most people really don't get the link between exercise, eating and obesity. And highlights the lack of appreciation of logic and reading comprehension.
