I was gutted today. Shopiing in tesco and on the way out I glanced at the for sale board. Just said BMW 3 series 1982 £650 new tires and exhaust. My initial thoughts are, someone doesn't know the real value of their car. I ring up and he tells me he only put it in tescos and it sold within 3 hours. Was a 323I with a years ticket, totally gutted I wasn't fast enough

Happened to you?

Sort of. I offered someone £1,200 for a really nice 328i sport, which realistically was too low, but I figured it was worth a shot anyway.

He refuses, and it remains on ebay for 3 weeks. Meanwhile I end up buying a different 328i sport which the HG blows up on.

I look back on ebay and see that he relisted the car for no reserve, and it went for £1,012.

Had a sale agreed on my MG without even advertising at the weekend for £1400 with a lad knew of facebook before advertised the car and came to a deal on a Fiat Grande Punto Sporting Diesel for £3,100 on a 56 with 65k miles which seemed good middle of last week.
Anyway lad came and was basically a time waster block of MG was a bit dirty and he claimed was a oil leak... the pointed out it had stonechips and the gearlinkage was a bit loose which was fair enough but I told him that anyway but he then said would give me a grand for it so I told him to f off near enough. Anyway still had enough for the punto just but rang up and he had sold it anyway despite me saying I was going to give him a deposit the next day and him promising to save it for me ffs :/

But on the bright side all this has led to me keeping the MG a few more months and decided myself fk trying to save money on fuel and I am just going to get something silly come September time smile

Back in January 2010 my dad missed an absolutely mint Volvo 850 T5 to replace the one he wrote off on black ice, which was a bit gutting because I would have been learning to drive in it, and ended up with a 2.0 N/A 850 which wasn't great. I say that because we found out after buying it that the ABS would kick in at random, even if you weren't braking, and that the windscreen had a pretty nasty chip in it that we missed because we bought it at night and collected it at night. It was also rather unrefined at motorway speeds because the silencer was knackered; not that I'm complaining, it sounded awesome. Oh and it drank like a fish; it averaged about 22mpg over two years doing mostly rural driving.

I still forgive it, I had a great year driving it, and I rather miss it now that it is in the great car park in the sky.

Yes, I missed out on a cheapish runabout (but in fantastic condition) a couple of years back. I'd been beaten to it by less than an hour.

I was the second to call about the car but the seller had the courtesy to call me to say the first caller had indeed bought the car.

However, I've always tried being of the que sera sera attitude.

I saw an Integrale once - had been garaged for years, the owner then died, and the probate was flogging it off. Ok, they said it was a 'non runner' and it was dusty with 4 flat tyres, but then it turned out they said 'non runner' because they tried to start it and it was as dead as a doornail - as you'd expect a battery to be after 5 years in a garage.

£500! And I saw the ad on the day it was placed.

I called up, but by then it was 4pm. They laughed, told me I was about the 50th caller that day, and that it had sold by 8am with a bloke turning up paying cash and trailering it away smartish.

They then ruefully admitted that by now they'd realised it might well have been worth a bit more than £500, but to them it was just a dusty old non running car that they wanted out the way so they could clear the garage!

D'oh! biggrin

Yes - still annoyed.

RX7 V8 - I'm intending to build one but have been looking for one ready built.

Searching everywhere and then missed the one on here that was advertised for the price the bloody engine alone fetches.
