Bought car, need to sell, but still waiting for v5 from DVLA

That's it really. Bought a smashing car for the wife, a week later she changes job and gets a company car!! I need to sell the one I just got her (I cannot and do not want to keep it as I have other cars and bikes already) but the v5 is still with the DVLA.

Can I still sell it (I realise it may put certain buyers off - it would me) and if so, how does it work with the v5? Do I tell a prospective buyer I'll forward it on to them and just write them a receipt at the time of sale? The car's only worth £600 so not like I'm trying to sell an Aston or anything.
