The Challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to find a car for £500 or less, pretty simple huh?

Their are some rules though:

1: It must have a valid MOT/Tax or both for at least 1 month (if its doesn't mention either, then you MUST assume it doesn't have it)
2: It must have no major mechanical issues
3: It must have no major accident damage
4: The advert must have a picture!

Lets see how much fun 500 quid can buy you. The best suggestion will win 1000 man points!

My 2 cents

Depends what you class as fun but you can pick up a little cinquecento sporting with tax and mot for that sort of money.

They may not be quick but are a right laugh in the twisties!

It's not for sale now, but I did manage a 190bhp V6 A4 with tax and test for £500 a few months ago.

Basically nothing too ordinary, because I wouldn't consider a bottom of the range euro stbox or an MPV to be fun.

I like this game smile

This looks alright, crap engine but should be decent enough for town use / "wafting"

Well, I would prefer it to the usual Corsas and Clios that are readily available at that price! hehe

That Part Exchange place is not far from me, what's the deal with it? Many super cheap cars, cheaper than you'd expect. I've been looking at that MR2 for a while.....

This is a weekly game for me, what treats can be had for 500 quid!

Quite remarkable bargains about with several of these cars looking well worth the money. MR2 seems a really good little runner. Tinworm does not seem too bad if she drives as suggested got to be a really good price. Very interesting series of runners shows what is about for not a lot!

Try reading the advert maybe? Immobiliser fault.
A bit of a bh on these, a friend had one with same issue, after many different attempts he scrapped it.

Mine beat you biggrin though I don't think I could persuade the current owner to let it go again for that money..

I am impressed with the Gumtree bargains being unearthed generally. Damned good buys at this money and you would get £160 if you scrapped the car because of the MOT requirements. Economy with comfortable motoring. With a bit of style. For £500. Got to be good.

The value of some of these cars is staggering! I want to buy some just because they are so cheap. No need for them whatsoever!
