Alarms - is there something in the air?

Went out to the car last night to leave for work, blipped the key and the car responded with nothing. Lights flashing on key, even tried a brand new battery, but still nothing. No alarm response, no door locking... nowt. Opened car manually and alarm went off, engine started ok. Clueless to why this was happening as never had a problem before and car parked on my drive as usual. With time running out I had to bike it to the station. As i left i went to turn on my wireless house alarm, hit the blipper and guess what... nothing! Now this seems more than a coincidence. Alarm set manually on master box ok. Anyway got back this morning and both the house blipper and car blipper are working normally.. any ideas as to why this would happen?

Possibly being jammed by a local mobile phone mast or some other RF transmission, used to happen to me in a certain car park in Southampton.

Yes a mate at work says there is a car park near him where this happens, but this was on my driveway where i always park and now its ok.... ??

I heard that some wireless doorbells can interfere with some car remote central locking systems...

Not a BMW is it? Make sure it's not the signal being blocked to facilitate a theft?

No, its an Alfa and I put it down to that when it first happened, but when the house alarm would not set either I thought it must be more than a coincidence, however now all working fine again? ... must get some tin foil to wrap round my head to stop the aliens reading my mind when they come!
