Fiat Punto Free to Charity/School
Discussion
Hi
I have a 2000 Fiat Punto HGT which has a full service history including cam belt service. Shocks, hubs, discs, and power steering pump have all been replaced in the last year.
It has just failed the MOT on a few issues and also has the odd electrical quirk such as the central locking and drivers electric window have recently stopped working.
It seems a waste to scrap it as mechanically it is a good car and still drives very well. I do not have the time to fix the problems, and it is uneconomical to do so at garage labour rates.
Therefore does anyone know of any charities/schools that use cars for teaching, learning, etc that would be able to make use of it? Ideally in Kent/Surrey/Sussex/Hampshire?
Thanks

eBay with proceeds to a local charity? Keeps the car going and opens your options for charities.
This is a good idea also. Make sure that the advert clearly states, all over it, that all the money is going to charity.A lot of well off people in particular will pay over the odds for items if the proceeds are going to charity, so this could be a big win all round.
Well done on you OP though for being so selfless

Many thanks for all your replies, it has a month of the MOT left so I will spend the time trying to find somewhere that will make use of it, any further ideas most welcome. If this is a non-starter I will go down the Ebay route highlighting the money is for charity.

I admire your morals, but surely if it's a HGT it wouldn't be suitable for learning and is rare enough to keep running?
I think the cost of petrol and insurance has pretty much killed demand for these. Apologies, when I said learn I meant from taking it apart or fixing it as opposed to sticking L plates on it. The mind boggles as to how much it would cost to insure it, the insurance was actually more than the Tamora that it replaced. B'stard Child said:
Fire station will cut the roof of it....... Perhaps not what the OP wanted
Maybe not but atleast it will be put to good use. A college may fix it up or strip it apart etc and then scrap it anyway. Both good causes but I imagine giving to a college will involve more hassle than the Fire chaps.Basingstoke College of Technology do an Automotive Technologies course! im sure they would be glad to have it!
