Haters gonna hate, but good for him. Can't say I'm a fan of his godawful music, but in his position I would splash out too.

I would loathe to pay the insurance on that though, but i'm sure it's still well within his means.

yes

Though I hope his parent's/manager/whoever are investing some of the wealth for the post-fame future. As an aside, I heard an interview with Rizzle Kicks (who's music I'm equally not fond of) and was disarmed at how businesslike and thoroughly screwed-on their heads seemed. A much better attitude than mine when I was that age.

His music stinks and he is a talentless puppet for his record label, but if someone would pay me to do what he does, I'd do it too if it meant I could drive an R8. At least he picked a good colour. Is that a V8 or a V10 version though?

The pictures in the article prove it's not possible to look cool climbing out of an R8 though, certainly not helped by the skin tight jeans or daft haircut.

For the haters, take solace in the fact that within a few months, all 4 wheels will be kerbed to death and he will scrape it on a pillar in a car park.

Call me a cynic, but although he's pretty damn successful considering he was unheard of a year or two ago. I'd be amazed if he bought it. He's Cowell owned so won't be getting the best pay days ever, and he's sharing whatever he earns with 4 or 5 others.
I don't think he'd be in the position to be throwing 100k at a car just yet.

I do however think he's the perfect advertising campaign so he'll have been given one by Audi.

On the other hand, I could be completely wrong!

What good do you think can come from Audi giving him an R8? I understand why they lent one to JK, but not this youngster.

I think he is being careful not to scratch his or other car doors.

I've never heard of him, but good on him. I'd love one. It's funny seeing the amount of birds outside the house. There is now no need for him to ever have a sherman tank. If he ever feels like one all he has to do is open the door, beckon the fittest bird in and then boot her out as soon as he has shot his lot. Lucky guy...

Thinking about it, it would probably make sense if he insisted on ID first. Anyway good on him.

From what I've heard the girls waiting outside his house are a nuisance.
If I could have driven a supercar aged 18 I would have done.

PS. Harry's mum, I would!

Although it is a good point , Mercedes thought it was wise to give Wayne Ronney a Merc 63AMG
Can't see Audi giving a R8 -perhaps one of the cheaper models A1/A3/ a TT at best for this poodle poseur.

In response to your first question, its a V8 version, probably not new, so definitely not a 100k car.

All I can say is that the kids got good taste.I wish I could have afforded a nice car when I was 18 instead of driving around in my Mk 3 Escort.Having said that I won't be letting my son drive my R8 when he's 18 that's for sure, even if I could afford the insurance to cover him (doubtfull) , it's too powerfull for an inexperienced driver.Good luck to him, I just hope he drives it sensibly.

A quick google suggests they've sold

UK 600k albums
UK What Makes You Beautiful - 624k (PLATINUM) as of 3/22/12
UK One Thing - 108k as of 3/30/12

US 1.6m albums
US Up All Night 489k

Can't believe I'm googling One Direction's sales figures on a saturday night, but it is what it is!

Anyhow, the point being even divvied between the 5 of them I'm sure he can easily run to a second hand R8!

Fair enough. If you're 18 and in a successful (worldwide) pop group, you're going to buy a cool car.

Yawn. Predictable thread is predictable. Get over yourselves.

Granted, I wouldn't have bought an R8 in his position but I would have spunked a ton of cash on an outlandish crazy mental car.

This more than likely.
