I've had the BMW, but not the Vauxhall. They seem to have all the toys, are RWD with a great engine and more powerful than the BMW. I'm guessing the BMW handles better but I'm interested in comparison between these two models.

The omega 3.0/3.2s were good enough for the police...

Personally i quite like them. A bit 'different', certainly now.

Ironic really, back in the 80s the carlton was common as muck and the BMW was the rarer sight.

I guess they cost next to nothing as well, so the depriciation vs BMW isnt going to be much of an issue.

328 for me, but I am biased. It has it on looks for sure. It also has it on speed, before you fit a few tweaks to take the power up to the same as the vauxhall.
Isn't an omega more of a 5 series rival anyway?

Didn't the plod use the MV6 rather than the elite? Saying that, what was the difference?

And also wasn't the 3 litre engine borrowed from BMW and used in the upmarket versions of the omega.

No, it most certainly wasn't - it's a V6 for a start. The only engine from a BMW in the Omega was the 2.5 diesel.

I was following one of these Omegas a week or two ago. Had no idea what it was until I did a lookup on the reg. - was very surprised to see it was an Omega, looks very different from the rear to the ones I'd seen before.

On that basis, I'd go for the Vauxhall, BMW 3ers are ten-a-penny.
