Well ford has just confirmed the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500's engine is the most powerful production V8 in the world.

Ford really seems to be on a roll these days with record profits to boot.
Since ford is talking about bringing the next mustang to Europe, perhaps this engine might make the trans-atlantic leap too.

It probally wouldnt meet EU emission laws & Euro NCAP crash tests (like the Hyundai Genesis Coupe).
It passes IIHS crash testing which is tougher than NCAP testing. As for emissions... why wouldn't it pass them? it gets better fuel economy than many high end Euro sports cars.

Can't argue with the performance but I still can't get allong with the looks of the 10+ cars I like everything about them apart from the way they look.
But why does anybody care? unless you have a fetish for fondling dashboards?

Yeah but what are the interior plastics like?
They are very plasticy. Marquis Rex said:
What about the live rear axle, pushrods and poor Bhp/litre?
It's no Bangle BMW valvetronic, twin turbo piezo GDi downsize boosted V10 or Jap-scrap VTEC DOHC fart can wearing 9000 rpm Rice Burner

And it probably only goes in straight lines, what with it being terrified of corners. It's no Bangle BMW valvetronic, twin turbo piezo GDi downsize boosted V10 or Jap-scrap VTEC DOHC fart can wearing 9000 rpm Rice Burner

Frankly who the f
k gives a stuff about bhp per litre? A great unstressed engine which makes all the right noises and will last until oil runs out. Looks great, interior is fine (I don't care if BMW have tanned Dodo scrotum covering their dash, I certainly don't sit there fondling the dash at any point before, during or after the journey - is it shiney or does it reflect light? No? Well then its' looks are fine and it's fit for purpose. Sorted).
As an aside I have heard tell that the Euro version could see a twin-turbo 4-pot, which TBH puts me right off (even if I could aford one at this point)

It is pleasing that it is 2012 and somewhere in the world this is just coming into production.
Love my Mustangs, fantastic cars and with a few choice options(notably, performance pack suspension upgrade) they work much better in the UK than people seem to realize. I get almost 30mpg out of my stock one too.

It doesn't really matter how crap the chassis is or isn't, it's 662bhp for £34k.
Of course if it ever gets here it will be £60k and thus there will be other things I'd rather have.
If only they would stop fitting the wheel on the french side and sell it for £40k, I think we'd see lots of them disappearing backwards into hedges on wet b roads!
