Declaring a Driving Ban Abroad

Hi, I Got banned for 17 months last year and completed an awareness course, My ban now runs out the 4th June.
I have been living in Spain for 6 months and go back to the UK frequently, I am planning on getting a car soon (E46 320D) and will be taking my insurance out in Spain as its less than half the price. The thing it though in Spain its the car which is insured not the driver/s, Cars over here are sold with insurance like we sell a car with MOT.
So when i am ringing up companies for prices they are asking all the questions but nothing like, Any convictions or anything to declare so i don't really think i am doing anything wrong by taking out the insurance.
Can anyone help me here, Do i need to say to them that i have been banned? Like i said i will be driving in the UK as well which is worrying me a bit as it goes on the Motor Insurance Database, And obviously in the UK you have to declare it.
