MX5, or MR2 Turbo. Insurance on the latter is surprisingly considering it's performance.

I'd probably go for a mk3 MR2, in that price bracket, if it's insurable.

How about a Lexus IS200? Group 10/11 insurance - low cost as not your usual youngsters car, plenty room, nice cabin, good looks, decent performance, reliability, 6-cylinder engine, RWD, easily modified - style-wise, if that's your thing?, and can be a fairly late example for your budget.

Papercut i'd love one but i've got a feeling the insurance would laugh at me, also for my budget wouldnt they be ridiculously high miles? Same with a MR2 really decent suggestions though!

I'm 25 now, but when i was 20-21 i got a series of quotes on differing cars and the IS200 was £800-£900 p.a. i don't know if you consider that (too) high, but i would imagine a Fiesta wouldn't be far off that either. I accept things may have changed in that 4-5 years when i was getting quotes, but you'll have to check - you may be surprised.

There are plenty of 2004/2005 models with anything from 60-90k miles on them, well within budget. Again you'll have to look local to you, but there out there. If you get one, i don't think you'll regret it.

Stick with the Punto until you're 21, then buy a classic and insure it for peanuts on a specialist policy. smile

Never thought about that, might just have to stick it out then or get a very low insurance group car

Ah, that's unfortunate! Well, looks like you'll have to build up NCB and keep what you have or get another small car!

...of course you could buy a very cheap, early IS200 and spend £2,900 insurance, but i really wouldn't recommend either of those!

Just wait. It will should get better, insurance-wise!

Thanks for looking and taking the time, ironically thats the car i want i've already had some decent quotes for them and there quiet nice on the eye for the price, and insurance costs. Its just finding the right one within the budget. I've been looking at Seat Ibiza, Ford Fiesta, and Citroen C2 as the insurance is around 1200 on them all which is "reasonable" well not really but in conjunction with cars at £2,500 it is.

@ DM46 that would be "Fronting" and not benifiting my NCB in the slightest.

Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec? Nice car, quite comfortable, nice handling, reliable and a very good engine as long as its the H22 vtec lump.

Can't help but see that you're wrong. On both accounts!
