i immediately skip past any advert where someone is obviously "trying it on" however that my be.
Me too. Same goes for stating 115,000 miles as 115. I wish Autotrader would allow a minimum mileage setting as you could automatically eliminate these chancers. Then again making them easy to spot has to be a good thing.
I'd never buy a car off one of these clown that puts the wrong price or mileage. do they think anyone will see the add for £995 and be interested and then when they find out it's actually £4000 still want to complete the purchase?
If they can't afford to pay the full ad price for cars £1k and over then i doubt they'll have been able to afford to maintain the car properly

Adverts for cars priced < than £1k on Autotrader are cheaper.
Yeah by like £10. Woopy do.I was scrolling through the cheap cars recently and saw a Golf which looked far too new to be £999 so I clicked on it out of curiosity, thinking 'whats wrong with it?' and at the end it said 'Price is really £4,999.'
Three problems with this
A) Its f
king annoyingB) To sell a car over £1,000 the advert doesnt cost much more, so if he's this much of a cheapskate how has he treated the car?
C) Anybody actually looking for a £5k Golf isnt going to see his car because its buried in the cheap car section. Do they now realise this tactic is totally self defeating?

At last somebody's put a minimum mileage in
Was looking at Superbs this morning & saw this :
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
Wasted ages comparing it to similar age, similar miles & wondering why it was so cheap before spotting the "real price". Bugger.
I've often been tempted to follow XitUP's lead with telling off the fools who place these ads, suppose they're too thick to understand why anyone would be peed off?

I'd have stopped reading way before the 'real' price:http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

I didn't notice unitl I'd look at all the pictures etc and read the whole blinking advert. Right, now prepared I will scan the ads first to make sure there's no trickery afoot
