Watching traffic cope tonight, and noticed a lot of the police cars have mismatched front seats, I realise seats wear out but only at very high mileages, or is there another reason.?

Could it be that the driver's seat is swapped out for a more hard-wearing and heavy duty one? Presumably the original seat is installed back in the car prior to it being flogged off at the end of the cars police life?

I noticed this too. I assumed it was just to with wear and tear, with their batman style utility belts, handcuffs etc rubbing.
