Selling gearbox with broken 5th gear - where/how?

I've had the gearbox replaced in my car because it was cheaper to buy a new one and fit it rather than repair the broken one. This means I have to sell the old one which was working perfectly fine in all gears except 5th which it would not go into (mechanic/gearbox specialists thought it could be a synchro).

Is there demand for such parts or should I just scrap it?

I was thinking it may be a cheap fix for someone who has a completely broken gearbox and is just after a cheap solution to restore their car to a driveable condition. I thought of putting it up on ebay but before I do, are there any better ideas?

Depends on the Box but I'd strip it down myself as a journey of discovery and see if I could fix it myself

Sell it in central london or the isle of wight.

Not much chance of getting into fifth in either of those places. . . . . .

That's actually a good idea for a lazy afternoon this summer - it's from an Almera so doubt it's anything too complex.

Any links to good resources or pointers?

For a TVR / Viper / something interesting it would be worth something for an Almera I suggest it's worth scrap value.

No help with that particular box but a gearbox strip and rebuild is what I have planned for one weekend this summer as I have a getrag 265 which is unwiling to offer a neutral

Getrag 265 with all gears intact definately worth some effort
