Ever been surprised by a very ordinary looking vehicle in your quick car ? I couldnt overtake a Ford transit many moons ago in a standard impreza p1 on a dual carriageway until i was well into licence losing territory, it was pretty tatty only visual clue was 2 tail pipes but it was very quick considering the aerodynamics of the thing certainly surprised me !

This comes down to what I said earlier, it's sad when Hot Hatches are not good against even level entry diesels these days. I assume the reason you went with the RS is because you wanted to show the diesels who's boss? biggrin

Really? A Fiesta ST pissed over your Golf R32? Was it broken?

I'm hoping he meant Focus, even that should be close should it not?

I've struggled a bit at times with the turbo'ed volvo's, also there was a guy a couple of years back who was keeping up with me on motorway (I was driving an e46 M3 at the time). He was in a Saxo! It sounded ridiculously boomy and he must have spent a few dollars modifying - funny thing was the guy looked huge (like a gorilla) in his tiny white saxo

Lose all of the toot, paint it white, add some rust, a roof rack, a length of drain pipe and some ladders, and that could be an interesting sleeper

I gave my old S14a 200sx flank speed coming off a roundabout once, 1/4 of a mile down the road was another roundabout, going very very fast at this point, that's when I noticed I had a landrover 90 up my hole, yellow it was and no I never found out what exactly had been done to it

Appreciating this isn't really on topic but.....

In my Z4M I'm always surprised how well 90% of morning traffic pull away from me at the lights in my desire not to see 15-20 mpg when the engine is cold. Right pain in the arze as once up to speed I can go pass with ease but you have to gun it earlier on probably due to the power higher up in the rev range.

When I had the S and did some late night running in London alot of cars were very surprised by the pace between 0 - 30mph but 5 years on I can see why they didn't pull away even if they had 2.5 times the power

Must be down to driver ability

Traffic always pull away from me at the lights, but I always put it down to my driving style. I mean of course I could hoof it just to be first, but I care too much for the clutch and car. If I'm not 'making process' my driving style is ridiculously sedate mind.

Diesel rep mobiles used to humiliate me constantly in my RX-8. It was such a gutless piece of st.

thats the problem with DSG cars, you get a choice of 2 pedals, never sure which one to mash ....
