To trade or not to trade?

Hi All,

I just wanted some thoughts on trading in a car vs selling it myself.

I have an 05 Jag STR that I am due to trade in against a new (to me) Jag. They have offered me a fairly low Amount of money to trade (I know they need to make money etc) so I am thinking I should just sell privately and make some more money back.

I have never done this before and usually just take a hitowns trade to make life easier (plus I am lazy!)

My concern I guess us that I end up stuck with a fairly difficult to sell car that I struggle to sell and after weeks of trying to sell end up taking a hit on...

So i am hoping for some advice/thoughts from someone more in the know than me!!
