I am talking stuff that was unexpected like a bottle of wine or flowers when collecting. Not a set of mats thrown in when negotiating the deal.

I would be interested to know what the car was too!

My own experience was naff all, just a thanks and off i went. This was in 1999 though.

A big fat discount, an unhappy looking salesman when I played him at his own game and a load of hassle from the sales manager when he realised I wasn't buying any of his bullst addons.

Absolutely nothing on a 30k evoque.

Well i did get a full tank of fuel thrown in by LR customer services due to the delay I had collecting, but that was only because i moaned at them.

A few cups of coffee when taking a 'just part-ex'd in' Corsa off the hands of a main dealership. Shame it's a Corsa but it is/was my first car so I was expecting it to disintegrate in a tree tbh...

So you negotiated and collected all at the same time?

A bunch of flowers for 'er indoors. But only because I mentioned that she got flowers from the salesman when we bought our previous car...

When I bought my Impreza in 2000 I didn't realise I was lucky enough to lose £9000 in depreciation when I sold it 22 months later.

If he's referring to buying a car in the US - yes - all at the same time. You never heard of instant gratification?

I got a battle of wine from Toyota once, I've bought a few new cars and that was the only time I got a gift. Free gifts would encourage me to give them a better rating on the dealer survey *wink wink* hehe

Missus got a nice weave hamper with wine, some glasses and some chocolate in when she picked up her Up! Last weekend. So either that's a standard VW thing or he wanted to smash her back doors in.

I've just ordered a Polo with a fair few extras added so I'm hoping to get something nice from them smile

Is it just me, or is fuel the single hardest thing to get off the dealers when you buy a car, new or used?

Loving the username. Do you have a helper who claims carers allowance by petending he is the only man who understands what you are saying. 'No, I;m not asking for a cheese sandwich, I'm saying I've just soiled myself!'

I got a free tank in my CSL, however, I failed to get any money off that car at all!
That was the best deal in the world. Ever.

Don't ever complain about that one.

I'd didn't get anything when I picked up my Civic (I had to buy the mats to). But I did get a bottle of Castrol and a CRZ baseball cap when I took it for it's first year service.
