New rear wheel drive Ford saloon, 2.0l Ecoboost Turbo
Discussion
Launched this week a 2 litre turbo RWD 4dr saloon, weighs 1650kg, about 60kgs heavier than the Mondeo, gets to 60mph in around 6.9 seconds, so a bit quicker than a Golf GTI.

As far as I understand that's the next size up from a Mondeo in some markets (Australia for example).
Think of it like the VXR8 to the Insignia.
Ideally, the V8 one would be imported in small numbers here as a rival to the VXR8, since there must be some demand for them, but I guess the business case doesn't stack up for Ford. Unfortunate really, as they're already RHD for the Austalian market, but there we go...
Also, while I'm on my soap box, Ford should offer the 3.5l V6 EcoBoost in the next Mondeo as a sport version (the 3.5l being the V8 replacement/alternative in the US), since that's meant to become a 'world-car'.

You know the more i look at that the more i like it. Purposeful and stylish without being overstyled like so much modern stuff. A lot of good stuff has been said about the pics of what's supposed to be the Mondeo:

But to my opinion this just looks a bit, well, silly compared to the Falcon. It's RWD too!

I hired a Falcon XR6 about 3 years ago and it was an absolutely fantastic bit of kit. Best Ford I've ever driven, really felt like Fords answer to a BMW 330i. Lovely.
Just a shame we are too obsessed with miserable diesels and CO2 for it to ever be a success over here, as the base engine was a 280bhp 4 litre V6.

Saw an initial test write up on the ecoboost Falcon, impressive at first glance - just pips the 4.0 I6 to 100km/h and they were averaging 42mpg. Will be interesting to see more in-depth reviews of how it drives.

Much bigger, slower and heavier than the equivalent Falcon, with a front wheel biased awd system. What do you like about the Taurus?I have this car but in 4.0 6 turbo guise (360 bhp) - the one in my profile.
The one for this topic is the Falcon (with the new front end) but the base design links back quite a few years.
Personally I love mine but that's because its near M5 quick with a big spec but that 2.0, quick as it is, is quite basic and not that exciting and is available for about £22k.
