Hi gents

I need to purchase 2 275/30/19's (ouch....) can anyone recommend where to get hold of them at a half reasonable price? (dont mind if it's a chain retailer or a website really)

Only really interested in decent brands (continental, Pirelli, Goodyear, Dunlop etc)

I can't seem to better £230ish per corner fitted....

Cheers

Chris

Run flats or not?

I'm pretty much looking for the same tyres.

I found Blackcircle pretty good but still looking at 250ish per corner!

Non run flats thankfully, are vredstein actually any good?! Toyo's are nice but similar to the continentals i fear they may wear out pretty quickly?

What do people think to the latest Dunlops? I used to think they were crap (very hard and poor in the wet) but the tyre guy earlier was adamant they have improved massively

I bought 4 Michelin Energy Savers from Black Circles and they were £35 PER TYRE cheaper than National/ATS Euromaster etc. I didn't check CamSkill. The local garage that did them were also great.

Worth checking the mobile fitters - etyres and eventtyres. Both have been cheaper or close to cheaper than camskill the last few times I have bought once you have factored in fitting. Less hassle too.

The fronts and rears need to be the same brand and same model for any car, and for a performance/sports/luxury car it is essential.

Always found by the time you have added driving to tyre fitters, getting tyres fitted to wheels, there is minimal difference between buying online and buying in a tyre shop place, so much so I don't even bother buying online anymore.

Whats your reasoning behind that then, genius?
I always thought that it was best to have identical left and right tyres but not necessarily front and rear.confused I'm keen to hear his answer.

I would suggest reading the owner's mannual, the tire and the vehicle manufactuer's recommendations and if going on the track, the vehicle club inspection rules.

Why would you have, say Michelin on the front and Dunlop on the rear, differing compound and grip levels, dimensions: even if the front and rear sizes are different, on a 4WD that can be an issue, as one brand (for example 205/40/180 front - 275/35/18 rear) can and does vary from another and different handling characteristics.

Look at every single new or offical dealer used car and each vehicle will have the same brand, model (eg: Pilot Sport, RE050A etc) and same rating tyre if it's Porsche (N1/N2 etc), Mercedes or BMW (and others).

I've had some ultrac sessanto gyres in the past. I would say they are as good as any others I've had ( Dunlop, pirelli, Michelin, kumho etc)

They are amazing in the wet actually.

Is it me or has the price of tyres gone through the roof!?

I bought four tyres for my M3 when I first had it about 18 months ago. I payed around £70 per tyre, Toyo Proxes. Just needed two rears and the same tyres were anything from £120-175! I ended up getting Toyo Sport R1, just over £100 from Camskill, great service, next day delivery.

Try a local tyre fitter. You will have to call them as they can't afford posh websites but the tyres will be a similar price. Try to keep it local if you can as these guys are there when you need them, unlike all these websites.

Sadly after using Event for some years, I won't be recommending them anymore. Time before last they damaged two wheels. They only accepted responsibility for one. The last time, they had to return 3 times to sort the balancing before they got it right.

As for putting different front s and rears on sometimes it can be a bit difficult to stomach 1k to change four tyres...especially if the front and rear can be wearing at different times...
