Autotrader gives the Renaultsport 197 as 33.6mpg combined. I read somewhere owners are only getting mid 20's. Anyone? confused

33 mpg sounds more reasonable to me for mixed driving.

197 mpg sounds a little optimistic to me!

We got 31/32 out of our 2. The second was marginally better as it had the longer 6th ratio gearbox.

Mostly town driving, mine (197 Cup) returned 22/23 - on a 'brisk' cross country jaunt, 28/29 and the best ever recorded was a motorway run at 33/34.

Good on fuel is something they aren't - apparently the earlier 172/182 was much better!

Good fun though! smile

This is why I've never been tempted by the 197/200. Renault seem to have managed to make it notably heavier than the 182 with a lower power to weight ratio and it apparently is much thirstier. Combined with no more equipment it doesn't really seem like progress somehow.

My 182 does 39-40mpg average, 43 ish on the motorway and 30+ round town.

I had a 182 and it was drive, let's say enthusiastically, and was brilliantly economical - 30mpg on a proper thrash...Even used to get 40mpg on the drive to clients on 40mph roads etc

Thought I'd go for a 197 cup...

18mpg around town! Used to get it to 25-30mpg ish on a very steady drive out, but hardly any better! I think 30.5 was my best...

Was very very pretty though
