For the first time in quite a while I got up early yesterday morning (half past 5) and decided to go for a drive, purely for the pleasure of driving. Not a really long route, around an hour-hour and half worth of driving. From where I live, to Buxton, Longnor then back towards home, completing a big loop, all B-roads apart from the short section through the middle of Buxton.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Blythe+Bridge&...

I can't recommend this route enough to be honest, it's hard to remember at times the simple pleasure of a good empty road driving at a speed that makes the journey fun but without being silly. It made me realise how good the Integra actually is, and more importantly made me remember exactly how much fun driving can be. Well worth the £20's worth of fuel.

And here's a couple of pics I took along the way.

Integra in the clouds biggrin (it got a bit misty for half a mile of so on the way out of Buxton)

Always liked DC5's.

Can't beat an early morning drive, been a while since I've done similar!

It's a good run. nice few different routes you can take off those roads as well if you want to make a full morning/afternoon of it. Might be one of the cars last blasts with me, need to free up some cash so it's up for sale. just not sure what to have as a replacement, more than likely will end up being an EP3. Or possibly a Clio Trophy/*cough*Cooper S*cough* if I could get one for the right money.

I'm quite pleased with the pics, only a couple of quick snaps on the iPhone but they've come out pretty good.

Cat was fooked! Seemed like there was nothing inside it at all hehe got a 2nd hand but unused one (apparently) off ebay for £150. Looked pretty much brand new to be honest and it's done the job.

Half five? Top marks for commitment.

Early mornings on weekends and bank holidays are definitely the best time to get out. I've always worried that I'd be too knackered to make the most of it, though.

I spent most of Sunday up until half 8 in the evening asleep anyway, lack of sleep last week and stag night saturday night saw that I was suitably knackered by that point and wide awake as a result yesterday morning.

Brilliant! Lovely to hear of someone driving their car just because they like doing so!

I used to do this quite a lot, but due to work commitments and other stuff over the past few months I haven't managed to - I'm most definitely looking forward to my next chance!

Oh, and I agree with you about the roads around Longnor - there's some beautiful tarmac up there :-)

It was very enjoyable. I do intend at least to try and get out a few more weekends this year, just seem to have a busy and expensive weeks coming up at the moment frown

Nice route. You would have pretty much drove right past my house on that route through Cheadle. Frequent Buxton quite a bit as I've family there and know all of those roads well, especially the return trip back through Leek. Fantastic scenary all the way. Love taking the car north of Buxton too up into Yorkshire. The moors are stunning!

Nice teggy too. Look out for my CRV with hooooge PH sticker on the back.

All power to you, dude! I do the same whenever I have the time/energy/the weather is kind. Managed to combine a stay at the in-laws with an early morning and some sunshine a few weeks ago so had a blast around the EVO Triangle. Just love the sense of freedom you get from driving simply for the pleasure of it.

Normally if I go out for a blast up and around there it's with a couple of mates, one has a DC2 Integra so fun is had when it gets twisty hehe Monday morning was a bit of a random 'I'm awake, bugger it I'm off out' moment, not sure anyone would have been happy at a 5:30am phone call from me asking if they were busy biggrin.

Love the pic of that Exige! I'm now having to carefully decide whether to take off a cool shot I've got of the Monza banking and use that as my wallpaper instead. scratchchin
