I spend a lot of my time driving around the country whilst on the phone. I've tried several Parrot bluetooth systems but not found them a match for OEM ones. Are there any aftermarket systems you can recommend that match the best OEM systems? My priority is to be able to hear callers and for them to hear me! Probably going to buy an Audi A6 Allroad and would prefer not to have to buy one with factory bluetooth to give me more choice of cars...

Something like a Kenwood DNX7240BT is good but you need to be able to fit a double din unit in the car. Not cheap but it is an excellent piece of kit. I daresay there'll be cheaper alternatives.

You can get the factory bluetooth retro fitted to Audi if you want.
Lots of people do it.

I've got a couple of aftermarket stereos (one Alpine & one Kenwood) which are both pretty good. Neither is flawless which appears to be down to the ever changing bluetooh standards. No Android phone I have ever had has done voice dialling, which my ancient WM TyTN II did 5 years ago! In fact, not even the phonebook integration works any more! The Kenwood is a pain to use because of their insistence on menus as opposed to buttons - not ideal when you are driving! The Alpine system is good.

Both use Parrot modules, so I would go for one of them, but don't assume it will work properly with your phone (or the next one, or the one after that...)

O/T but I really don't see what's so hard about it. Design a standard, then comply with the standard: everybody's happy!
