Mods, please don't move this to the YouTube thread, the video is incidental to a topic that reveals a huge difference between the UK and Ireland regarding road safety and the competence of traffic police.

It's those travelling folk again, sticking two fingers up to the law and racing on the public highway in a way you've never seen before. Probably...smile

This appears to be a regular occurrence in the Emerald Isle...

Me and my mate were driving to work in St Albans a few Saturdays ago, it was about 7am and as we're heading along the A414 near Hatfield we hit heavy traffic in both lanes.

As we get to a roundabout we see two of those horse trailers things racing with a Nissan Navara behind them holding up both lanes.

Never witnessed such bare faced cheek and disregard for anyone but their own ilk.

It would not be closed as it is forum relevant.

It's only Lounge youtube threads that get closed and linked as we have a collective thread in there.

Not just in Ireland, this happens a lot near where I work (Leighton Buzzard). Makes life a right pain in the a**e as you struggle to get round them

Because you want it to be, or do you have anything to back that up with?

Because its against their human rights to have them abide by the laws of the land (or summat like that).

Hello, sweety pie...wavey

Do a search on YouTube, wherein you will discover a multitude of such racing.

Would you like me to get a spoon and feed you?

Why would I "want it to be" ?

What an odd response confused

I don't see anything wrong with it at all .... bearing in mind right place right time. But then, it is an everyday occurrence on the auld sod. Key difference being carefully and properly managed.

I think he's a bit sore because I called him tetchy in Another Place That Shall Not Be Named...hehe

Unless he has a namesake, of course, in which case I withdraw that comment...

I have to admit though that I am talking back 20+ years. Not sure if they still run them these days in the way they used to. Usually in parallel with the point to point, poc fada and bol an bothair.

The good old days smile

Don't think you've looked at the video, have you? They're doing it on public highways, still open to traffic...

Everything forward and trust in the lord...hehe

Yup, I looked at the vid.

Hence my comment about right place right time, carefully and properly managed, etc, etc.

I think someone on this thread said that they just don't give a toss. Which I have to agree with. Gives us a bad name smile

When I were a lad, etc, etc, etc wink

The bigoted views of MyBrainhurts do get tiring pretty quickly

So gardai incompetence, and illegal racing by travellers are regular occurrences over here in Ireland according to MBH? Not that I've witnessed and/or seen reported on the Irish news. Hence my question does he have anything to back that up with. According to this thread, so far, more people have seen this in England.
That video clip is several years old for a start and hardly newsworthy.
