Ok, it's an MOT faliure, Needs a ton of work (wheel bearing, ball joint, track rod end, exhaust, cat, welding to radiator frame, tyres, bulbs etc...

Not worth it. It's a MK1 PH2 Laguna. Good ones are going privately for around £500 - so this is worth approx minus £200.

Getting it back this morning, going to send the (new...grrrr) tax disc back. Whats my best bet to do with the car? Mum and Dad think I should stick it through auction? But the nearest one is 50 miles away. Getting it there and back would be tricky. Can't see it fetching anything either.

My idea was just to ring one of these people who'll take anything if it runs and bung you £100?

Scrap it.

Spend the scrap money on a tyre tread gauge so you don't end up driving around another car with tyres that won't pass an MOT.

ebay with a 99p start and £100 reserve? Someone way want it for parts or something so may be worth more than £100 to them, ergo, more money to you.

In all honesties probably scrap it

There comes a point in a cars life were unless its gonna be worth keeping or you really like the car that its financially daft to keep it

I'm running a mk2 laguna at the minute and if any major mechanicals go wrong I'm just gonna bin it as it will never be anything more than a daily hack

Take it out with your mates, find a private road/field. Make sure you're all wearing helmets. Give everyone a shot of the car.

Then scrap it.

Funny. Knew the state of the tyres. They're just about on the wear markers, now. Local garage is as cheap as anywhere for Vredesteineinsnensss.

In that case I'm glad I wasn't sarcastic about the light bulbs too.

Join your local car club, autotest it until it dies, then scrap it!

I'd scrap it.. I got over a hundred when I scrapped my XR4x4 and that was in far worse condition and after they had deducted the fee for coming to collect it! eBay means pissing about with timewasters and fees and all that bks.

Have any farmer mates? Get an unused field and set out a track and have rallies with your friends. That's what my Dad and his friends did with a few old cars.

What engine does it have? If it's a 2-litre, strip it out, badge it up as a Super Touring-era BTCC replica, then sell it on a motorsport website as a track car in need of a few jobs here and there biggrin

On the side, sell all the bits you stripped out of it on the Bay of E.

Granted, you'll need to invest in a roll-cage, but it seems a shame to scrap it if there are plenty of bits on it that work perfectly well.

It's a 1.6, so not even remotely quick. Engine and box are lovely though.

Came as quite a shock as it drives really nicely.

Nevermind.

Ah, if I recall correctly, French gearboxes are mega-money (autos at least) so may be worth breaking or selling for spares - then again, why would you... smile

I got £125 for an old Micra that I scrapped a year or so ago.
