As the heading says,

I let my friend drive back from goodwood - (super car sunday) last weekend and this is what happened:

binned

I wanted to know if any one else has been in the same situation.... it also made me think about looking at taking cars out for test drives.

should you setup a contract before letting someone drive your car?

what are your thoughts?

Mod note: Let's not make this an ad, eh?

Lots of my friends have driven the Elise. If I didn't trust them to pay for any damage they caused, I wouldn't consider them to be friends and wouldn't let them drive it.

he was coveded 3rd party.

but it makes you think... i have been out test driving lots of cars over the yrs and it could happen to anyone.

I am now thinking:

Mk1 - TT 225
Audi - S3
wrx - wagon (put lots of stuff in the boot)

some thing exciting but a bit more, dare i say it pratical!

Hi everyone on this large motoring forum. I'm a new member - oh look, here's a link to the car I'm selling.

Sad that you bumped the car, but it seriously reads like a advertising thread OP nono

Shame, really like these cars. Surely wouldn't be too much effort or money to fix?

Worst "buy my broken car" thread, ever. I'm guessing ditchfinder budget tyres?

That really sucks, though I do think the only contract to consider before letting a friend, or anyone else, drive a car is the insurance one.

I'd file it under st happens (but that's easy to say when it wasn't my car!)

What an unfortunate tale.

Cynics (i.e. me) might say what a great ruse to promote your ebay auction..

It's got a small dent in the wing FFS.
Fix it and move on or hand in your man badge at the door, you big Jessy!..

In times of crisis ask yourself. What would Ed do?

Of course the less scrouples would have been a little creative in the insurance claim.
But as you have plastered it all over t'internet, you have blown it.
hehe

When an advert reads "I'm sure it's ok, but I don't have the time to fix it" I just assume they mean "I've had a quote, it's fked and going to cost a fortune, so I shall attempt to foist it on an unsuspecting and naive Porsche fan" wink

Oh and the circumstances remind me of a mate who asked another mate (not insured) to drive his car home as he was too hammered. He then nodded off, then woke up some time later upside down hanging out of his seat belt, having just jumped a hedge and landed in a field. Oh how we laughed laugh

It is at least more subtle than the (now deleted) ad in the Porsche forum smile

what an intresting group of people.

All i wanted to do was share my situation and see if others had been in the same situation as I currently am in now….. Which is rock and a hard place!
This is not a plug for the car far from it.

You'll have to forgive us being cynical but the eBay link is completely unnecessary for the story.

FWIW I've been in exactly that situation when a friend crashed my Caterham on the day I collected it. Being a decent bloke he fixed it and we are still good friends to this day.
