T1R vs Prada Spec2
Discussion
Ok, I have recently picked up a 1.7 Puma Black Ed. Took it on a track session at Lydden Hill, all was well. So the brakes were a weak point but besides that it was great, just so neutral! The tyre's fitted to the car are Michelin Pilot Sport Exalto PE2's, I would like to keep these for the road and run some track only tyre's as they are great in all conditions. Its a choice between Toyo T1R's or Yokohama Prada Spec2's, has any one run these on a sub 1100kg car on track? At the moment I am attending autocross, public track days and the ring. So, no need for R888's and such like not entering any competitions just yet!
Look forward to your opinions,
Best.

I have had both one after another on my Fiesta ST and if I wasnt about the change the car id make sure I put another set of Yoko's on there. They are not as good in the wet. I found the T1R's had slightly more grip but let go less progressively BUT were far better if you hit standing water at pace.
In the dry the Yokos are so much better. They grip so hard once warm and seem to have a stiffer sidewall so are very sharp! Hope this helps.

I have used both on my old Golf VR6.
In my opinion you could feel what the car was doing better on the Toyos. The Yokos seemed to ultimately grip better but they were slightly less predictable. I felt more confident pushing it on the Toyos as I could feel what the car was doing more.
Obviously this varies between what works on the car and different driving styles, but you won't be dissapointed with either tyre for the money.

No, not the best tyre in world, I would go for something more extreme if I were running the Puma as a track only car, but I'm not so...
No need really. I tested track vs road back to back and had more fun with the road tyres!Full write up here: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Road-VS-Track...
