I've just bought an A3. 2.0 TDI 170 on 07 plate. 86,000 miles.

just after any opinion on whether I should do my own servicing (that would involve oil and filter change and not much else) or get someone to do it for me. Its just had a new cambelt. I don't thing anything else more serious needs to be done.Anyone got any idea on what I should get done and potential cost please,

Thanks for your help.

What is required to be serviced, and at what mileage, is in the service booklet. As for cost Audi do reduced cost servicing for cars over 3years old. If its got main dealer history so far I'd be tempted to keep it that way, if not, either you or your local spanner weilder will be fine. Not sure if you'll be able to reset the service indicator though.

Just price it up, local Audi dealer and a decent local Audi indy.

If the main deal is within 20% more than the Indy I would go main dealer to keep the history nice and neat.

Depends on you though, if you are the kind of person to keep the car 5 years do it yourself/indy. If you want to sell in 18 months then there is value in having the Audi history.

You will be able to reset the service light, the information on how to should be in your cars manual.

PD170 is likely subject to injector recall so get onto a dealer and ask.

Mr envy is bang on with intervals although up to 19kish with motorway use, less around town (this will kill your DPF before you see the service light!).

Fuel filter every 40k too.

As above with price, AVS1/longlife1/20k service should be >~£250 and just over 300 including a fuel filter (AVS2/longlife2/40k).

You can do it for £50 yourself including oil/air/fuel filters and VW 507 grade oil. All are easily accesible at the top of the engine bay, love the VAG cars for ease of DIY.
