Not stopping at the scene of an accident?

Was out earlier on my way to work, car in front slowed down for a pedestrian crossing and a cyclist started crossing from the right. Another car came flying off a roundabout (we were in a 30), saw the cyclist and then went up the pavement to the left of me, clipping the cyclist en route and then just fked off up the street as if nothing had happened!!

As it was he was very lucky not to kill anyone; had the cyclist been 2 foot further forward it would have been a T bone, and had there been anyone on the pavement he would have taken them out as well. As it was the cyclist was uninjured but seriously shaken up, and as soon as I could spin my bike around the car had vanished; presumably up a side road because despite tearing back up the street I couldnt see him; and very little will get away from the bike when you push her on a bit.

The car was a new(ish) silver Citron, 60/61 plate from what I saw, and the guy inside looked smart and well dressed; so why didnt he stop?? He could have been uninsured, or the car nicked I guess; but to hit a cyclist and then just fk off like that was beyond belief. What should/could I have done; I didnt catch a reg number and tbh was in total disbelief as it all happened.

Last BBC program about cops showed a girl in mini hitting a guy cycling on M1? and driving off. She then stopped somewhere down the road and called her boyfriend to collect the car as she thought that she hit an animal of some sort. Her step dad told to contact police so she did and was not convicted of driving off. The chap was killed at the spot. The mini was in the right state...

Basically, run away if you can...

Don't bother chasing anyone, just make sure the cyclist is all good. probably needed a stiff drink, tbh.

She wasn't charged because the cyclist was shown to be three times the drink drive limit and riding a bike in the pitch dark on a dual carriageway with no lights or reflectors.

Well he clearly had reasons not to stop. Either that or he honestly didn't know he had come in contact with someone.

Yes she wasn't, but I believe she should have stopped safely and check up on the person/animal you hit and maybe call an ambulance. And not just drive away like a coward...
