Hi.
I started a thread over the weekend in regards to what to look out for in a SportKa.
I still want the Ford, but I have been offered a (sexy
) Mitsubishi Charisma for £350 from a work mate. He wants to get rid of it. I saw it last Friday and it was still running and looked in average condition. I am thinking I should buy it and run for a couple of months and then decide what to do. Am I being silly in thinking I could sell it for £650+
All the text said was that it was an "Mitsubishi Charisma 1.8 on an X Reg"
I will hand my PH card to Garlick on the way out..

I worked at a Mitsubishi franchise c.2004 and they were just boringly average, the deisels were very popular. pre-reg'd we were banging these out for about £8k which made the new Colt look expensive!
Surely Trading Standards should have charged Mitsubishi about the name of the model, Charisma...............it certainly had none!

They went from Derbyshire to Wales last week and they said that they were not tired at the other end. Is the 1.8 the GDI engine? I know nothing about these as you can tell..Top banger

Nothing wrong with a carisma - essentially a Volvo s40 underneath - the GDI engine is a bit gutless and can have niggling faults - much better to go for the standard 1.8 16v - my dad had two - a 1.8 in top spec GLS trim and a GDI - both were mega reliable and really not bad at all to drive - a bit of modern day Austin montego or Nissan bluebird really - dull but worthy and not as bad a people make out

Buy it anyway, it's a fine shed to run around in.
No one will pay £600 for a Carisma. £350 is top money.

My old man bought a six month old 1.6 petrol Carisma in 1998 from a Mitsui dealer for around 9 grand.Six years later he sold it to my father-in-law who still has it.Literally nothing ( and I mean nothing) has gone wrong in those 14 years, Christ even the air-con has never needed a re-gas.
