If the car was available new with a sunroof and the one you're selling does not have one, its not fully loaded is it? And it definitely doesnt have "every conceivable option!!!11", does it?

So dont fking advertise it as such!

The alternative is for us poor suckers to read "every conceivable option", open your ad, look twice at the piss-poor pictures of your unvacuumed car for a sunroof, then read your near dyslexic list of options, half of which will be standard features, only to find its not fully loaded at all. You're just a prick.

This drove me crazy when I was looking for a previous car, how is it your "fully loaded" car doesn't have heated seats, xenons and SatNav? Helps weed out the plonkers early on though! smile

6/10 for rant by the way wink

A car without a sunroof is to me like selling a car without wheels.

Not fussed about air conditioning though.

If the sunroof is the only thing not ticked on the options list then I'd say in this instance it's forgivable. Most people see sunroof as a step down from aircon, not an additional feature.

I agree - i'd rather buy a car without a sun roof, simply because the only experience of sun roofs i've got, is that I got showered with rain water on the way round a roundabout, because of a dodgy seal.

It all came pouring out the control panel - wasn't impressed, and haven't had a car with a sun roof since.

Well you shouldn't have let him ride on the roof then.

Funny enough, I was looking for a Smart fortwo Brabus and the power steering is one of the rarest options LOL

"First to see will buy" really gets on my wick. It means nothing.

No secondhand car is ever "as-new" or "immaculate" either.

It's worse when you're trying to sell a car to that kind of person.

All of a sudden, they know a lot more about your car than you do.

When I was flogging my 155, for example, one guy tried to argue with me that they made them up until 2001 at the very least (mine was a last-of-the-line '97), and that it would be better if it was 'the auto'.

It wouldn't be. And Alfa didn't even do an auto 155.

All that jazz

I was recently shopping for an e class estate and wanted full leather , Command and rear facing seats. Pretty much every ad that said 'every conceivable option' didn't have these, there aren't really any other options on a S211! Seems electric windows and half leather must be ultra desirable though as they always mention them.

I guess because it would be like going into Halfords and asking for a bicycle with power steering. Its rare because its possibly the daftest option to request on a car that weighs the same as a jar of Branston.

It is one of those intangible things used to fill an advert by those advertising something mediocre and trying to big it up, to be honest, as a phrase, it puts me off.

This is why, when selling a car, I will accept a low but sensible bid from the first normal, sensible, English speaking person that is polite and shows up when they say they will.

Life's too short to need to deal with these people, and even if it got me a few more £s I'd still rather sell to a decent person (dealer or private) that some half witted knobber. If that makes me a snob then I'm proud to be one.
