Can it be done

Does anyone know if a 2.0 turbo engine from a Rover ti/vitesse would fit in a Rover 114 (Metro) and for what cost ?

If it has been done and anyone has any links,pictures and can post them it'll be a great help

I think the more common conversion is to fit a tuned 1.8 'K' Series instead of using the 2.0 'T' Series.

However, there have been plenty of Rover 200's/25's that have had a 'T' series fitted.

It might be a tight fit under the bonnet of a Metro, but I am sure you could do it.

Ouch. It probably can be done, but it would be far easier to drop in the 160 bhp k series lump plus wiring than the O series engine from the older car. You still get blistering performance in a metro from that.

If they can fit a 27 litre V12 in an SD1 then yes. Cost? No idea.

The 'O' is the earlier version of the BL/Rover 2.0 four. The 'T' series is the engine that went into the turbo cars of the 90's (coupe, 220, 420, ti and Vitesse etc.).

I'm sure you could but it's quite a heavy engine, I dread to think what it would do to the handling.

You'd be surprised a sorted Metro is a very potent track tool.

IIRC the Metro race series with 1.4's had faster lap times than the MX5 race series with 1.6's

Even standard, the "sportier" metros were pretty decent handling little cars.

I knew that as well, but confused my fingers while thinking of the older montego / maestro engine and somehow typed O series instead of T.

No handling is directly related to percived coolness and price tag.

So cheap uncool cars are always worse to drive then expensive cool ones
