My knob is too stiff

Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be with this car?

1) The gear stick felt very stiff between gear changes, in particular when the gear stick returned to the mdidle between changes it felt a lot hard to get into the next gear.

2) Soon after the bite point on the clutch starts feeling a bit 'loose' and this combined with the gear knob issues made changing gears difficult and feels like you always going to stall

3) The car kind of makes a 'juddering' sound - its hard to describe, but there is a sound independent of gear changes which tells me that something deep within the car is not moving around as it should or is loose or soemthing.

The car itself runs fine, its only when you go to change gear do you worry. At first I thought it might be the gearbox but now I am thinking its soemthing to do with the clutch.

All of this happened in about the speace of 60 minutes driving over 2 days.

If it is the clutch or gearbox anyone know how much either of these parts might cost to repair/replace?

The car probably isn't worth that much but has been pretty solid for me for over 40,000 miles. I also have MOT/Tax coming up so if I am going to bin the car now might be the best time.

To be honest when I saw the name of this thread I though you meant to put it in the Health Matters section

Look under the battery for rust around the gearchange cables, changed a few cos of rust and seizing.
