Sorry for being a bit thick but can you explain a bit more like how it works and what it does . what is vtec?

I have an Mazda 6 MPS and it doesn't have a little silver button.

There's no factory-fit silver button near the gearstick. If you've got sat-nav you'll have the little remote control thing but that should be it.
