Foreign National Insurance for UK

My OH is a Spanish national and will be needing to get a car fairly soon.
Anyone have experience or know someone who isn't from this country that drives here?
Will we be royally stitched up and wallet - raped?

Car is most likely to be something circa £1000 i.e. small Peugeot/fiesta.

As far as the law is concerned, he is not a foreign national - he is one of our EU brothers. There was a time when insurance companies tried to load more for an EU license, then they were told off and (apparently) do not do this anymore. You can check this by running a net quote with a British licence, then with the EU one. (Even when they were silly about this, it meant 20-30 quid loading rather than big money).

But really - there should be no issues at all. I am presuming you both live here? For he will need a UK address for the documents.

• Any NCD he has from Spain must be recognised fully, too.
