A couple of us were out on a jolly yesterday watching Force India testing. I took the X-type, Shewie had a Panamera diesel courtesy car and another one was already at the venue.

Anyway, couldn't resist the pic of my X-type looking like a toy between the two comfy behemoths....

Funny that, in my mind's eye I'd have that Jag as being a fairly 'big' car. The Panamera is obviously a step or two up in class but still - ridiculously large in my opinion.

my old boss had a panamera for a while so i walked past it daily but still didnt realise it was that big, or is the jag that small?

As one passed us on the M25 last weekend I said to my girlfriend "look at this car coming by, it's hideous isn't it?"

Her response was "what is it? Some sort of Kia?"

At the other end of the scale i saw a BMW 1-Series coupe (135i) parked next to a new BMW 6-Series coupe (640d) and they're not a million miles away in size. I'm not saying they're the same size, that would be ridiculous, but the 6 doesn't dwarf the 1 in the way you think it would/should in your head - if that makes sense!

Jag is the size of a Mondeo, perfectly average

The Porker is huge! But when you sit inside it all makes sense as a transcontinental mile muncher. With the driver's seat back for a lanky driver I sat behind with ample comfy leg room (I'm 5'7") and space to party.

Yet how small would your X-Type look if parked between two new Jag XJ's?

Iv driven the Panamera, diesel unfortunately. Super comfy but I didn't think it felt all that big like some people say. (Hammond) Maybe they should put the seat up higher .

There was a Merlin engine on a rig the other side of the air field being given a blast too. Fabulous

Duxford may have hosted a different team so not impossible for you to have heard something.

Even smaller in theory (XJ is another 7 inches wider than a Pan), but I wonder if the styling would hide it a bit?

I took the pic for a giggle as the X was looking small rather than normal. A bit like the angry little older men you find driving Merivas

I think it's the height and bulbousness of the rear that gives the illusion of it being quite so much bigger. They may be shockingly ugly, but they're not really any bigger than anything else in their segment.

I'd be amazed if the XJ is 7 inches wider than the Panamera, though. Are you sure the XJ width isn't including mirrors and the Panamera excluding them?

You're quite right, Mr Silly here just dug deeper and body width is less (I may have sat in the sun too long yesterday!)
