Car share with the other half?

Out of interest does anyone else car share with their partner?
I mean, the cars don't really belong to either of you. They are shared.
We have a view that the cars are there and we can pick which-ever one takes our fancy without having to ask permission.
When I was a kid, my parents had a car each. Dad had the good one and mum had the shopping car. If mum wanted to use the good car then she had to ask my dad.
Does this still happen? Is your pride and joy a definite 'no go zone'?

Both our cars and the motorbike are shared - The MX-5 is technically hers and the bike and the XKR technically mine (well, technically M&S financial services', but it's in my name), but we both use any of these as is most suitable for the occasion. We both put fuel in each of them as well.
That said, if we're all traveling together, I'll generally drive, as I'm a horrific passenger when she's driving.

Even if my GF could get insured on my M3 i wouldn't let her drive it - not even with me in the passenger seat! Luckily she has no desire to, so it's fine! On the other hand i made it clear i wanted to be on her insurance to drive her Ibiza (that she bought herself), for when i need something to run about in when not in the M3. I'm a hypocrite, i know

As we are married, both cars were bought by me and are in my name. But as the 5 series has a fuelcard from work, I generally use it unless she has a need for the bigger car. Otherwsie she has the golf gti. For example, she has to work early saturday morning, and the BMW will block her in, so I'd imagine she will just take it.
The bikes, however, are mine. She doesn't go in the garage (good job too, or she would wonder how much it all costs)...

Puma is hers, 2x Saabs and MX-5 are mine. Generally she drives the Puma because she likes it, but she used to borrow the MX-5 a lot before she had the Puma. She has driven the 900 when necessary, but not the 9000 yet other than backing out of the drive because she can't double de-clutch and the synchro has gone on 2nd 
I drive the Puma on occasion. We're pretty relaxed about it really! Both covered fully comp on all of them.

I share a car with my girlfriend. Really it’s her car though. I sold my BMW to buy our new house. Although I miss the BMW, I don’t miss the running costs of having two cars. Sharing one economical car is saving us a fortune. We work together, so no real need for two cars.
The amount I save in tax! Extra fuel (which I’d be bound to use), insurance tax, RFL etc).
I really wanted a cheap roadster like an MX5, but TBH, I don’t think it would get used much and I’d rather spend the money on the house ATM. Just don’t feel the need to spend so much money each year on a toy, with the cost of motoring now.

I really wanted a cheap roadster like an MX5, but TBH, I don’t think it would get used much and I’d rather spend the money on the house ATM. Just don’t feel the need to spend so much money each year on a toy, with the cost of motoring now.

Whilst technically the car is mine as I paid for it and pay for the maintenance, we treat it as equal (what's mine is hers and what's hers is hers). It's nothing special just an old Focus, so I don't care how she treats it really.
Once the house purchase has gone through, I will be buying something interesting again.

^^ this. Although she's not been insured on the Elise for long and has never actually been out on her own in it. She mostly uses the Saab these days, tends to drive the Nissan more at the weekends.All jointly owned.

I'm lucky in the fact that my misses hates driving, and doesn't need a car for works (she takes the train to London).
So i've got my GT for fun, and her car (a little corsa) as a shopping car etc. I think the last time she actually drove her car is a good 2 years ago, and this was only to the emergency vet with the cat.
