Big fan here as well. Beautiful inside and out (although that rear end is still not quite right to my eyes) and much more interesting than the German alternative.

The only thing that floats my boat equally is the Maserati QP.

I've really grown to love the exterior design but am still unsure about the interior.



I like the transmission tunnel and the piece of wood that wraps around the top of the dash from one door to the other, but the centre air vents in particular look like an afterthought, and the LCD instrument cluster and cowl look crap. The steering wheel is pretty huge as well and the OCD part of me dislikes the asymmetry of the current Jaguar "leaper" badge design.

Disagree about the interior design as think it looks great, but the "leaper" issue I agree with totally. I think that is what i dont like about the rear of the car also.

Much prefer the badge they use in the front grill.

This was a car that I so much wanted to like and buy, but could not stand the interior: tacky, vulgar and lacking headroom. Digital dash was naff beyond belief.... shame that such a good looking exterior has been let down so badly by what you see most of the time if you buy the car.

My mate is a professional sports man, he had an 11 plate 3.0d one, saw him then in a new xf sport diesel and asked him what happened to the XJ, he said the engine blew so jaguar gave him the xf instead, he will not be getting the XJ back. Make of that what you will

Petrol is the correct choice?

He might suffer again given that they use the same engines & it isn't like the competition is whiter than white either.


Black supercharged V8 would do nicely IMO.

• Why is Petrol the correct choice? 275bhp Diesel doesn't sound too bad plus 40mpg! He does high miles I should imagine.

I doubt he cares if the same thing happens, Im guessing its a freebie considering he shrugged his shoulders and said "they just took mine & give me this one instead". Hes not really a car person

Fantastic bit of kit, beautiful interior and rear 3/4. Cannot quite make my peace with the front though. I think the grill is just a shade to big and the lights either too small, or too low down. I cannot decide which, but the 'face' doesn't quite add up for me.

Someone referred to the badge, I personally prefer the front one, referred to, I am told as the...ahem...'growler', rather than the 'leaper'.

For me petrol would be the right choice, Jaguar's 5.0 V8 is one of the finest engines of it's type in production today. I'm not a big fan of diesels in the first place and my Jag mechanic mate regularly sees at first hand the issues that the Ford/Peugeot lump has. The petrols, in comparison are way ahead in the reliability stakes. And 40mpg? Official figures may say that but they struggle to reach the low 30s in the real world, the petrols seem to get closer to the actual figures.
Great cars though.

Sit in one and you'll soon stop worrying though I do agree that the leaper should be dropped in favour of the, uh, "growler".
