Saw 2 unusual cars today....
Discussion
Driving into capital city this afternoon and saw 2 cars I'd never seen before - or even knew existed!
1. E30 M3 Convetible. Looked in a right state, driven by a bird who clearly isn't looking after it.....with a bit if work it'd look awesome. I didn't realise these were made.
2. Jaguar XJS Estate! What the f
k! Was I dreaming?!? An estate? Really?? Sultan of Brunei must be in town....!
Made an otherwise boring trip vaguely memorable. Cool story eh, bro!

There's an E30 M3 cab in Putney, a tidy one too, but like you I hadn't seen one before stumbling across it.
One in the classifieds too: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3185472.htm
XJS is likely to be a Lynx Eventer. Very cool.

Sure it wasn't a normal E30 cab with an M3 kit? They were everywhere in the 90's/00's.
I hope this is the case, sad to see an unloved E30 M3.OldSkoolRS said:
I can't find it right now, but I read in a BMW magazine recently about a one off E30 M3 cab, it was the only one made according to the article and it was white. Hopefully that means that the one you saw was just a badged up 'copy'.
http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=9"How many of each version were produced?
ECE (non-catalyst): 136 produced from 06/88 through 09/88 & from 04/89 through 06/89
ECE (catalyst/195 hp): 174 produced from 07/88 through 09/88 & from 03/89 through 06/89
ECE (catalyst/215 hp): 476 produced from 03/90 through 06/91"

Quite possible I suppose, although did have the badges to match too. Are there any giveaways to check?
E30 M3 cab would be LHD,(unless converted to RHD)normal E30 Cab would be RHD.Bird driving it looked a bit like Brian May. An ever so slightly dishevelled Brian May mind you....

?They were a production model.

EDIT: Found a link, if you scroll down the list of articles you'll see the one I got mixed up with:
http://www.bmwcarmagazine.com/magazines/index.cfm/...
It was a 'One of a kind' as per the magazine article title, but this was because it had an Evo II engine.

Ah, I gotcha. Cheers for the link!
Kinda weird coincidence here actually because I noticed one advertised in Octane magazine and I had completely forgotten that they ever existed.
I remember reading an article or two when they were released. "Mean and roofless" i think was one, in Car or Performance Car. They'd taken it down to Nice/French Riviera IIRC. Eee...them were the days...

Ahh, I think it might have been an M3 Evo then...not big on E30s but just remember reading that it was the only one and they wondered if it was made by mistake or just as a trial. I've recycled the magazine now, so I'll have a look on line to see what the hell I'm wibbling on about.

For sale isn't it?
