Vectra engine problems
Discussion
My dads got one of the newest vectras, the one before the insignia took over.
Its done 111,000 miles so Im wondering if anyone knows of known problems that that car has with the mileage of 111,000 or thereabouts.
anyway, about 5 thousand miles ago the engine light on the dash came on, turn out the EGR (i think thats what its called) valve was all tarr'd up and wouldnt open or close so the car was in limp home mode, got that changed out an all was fine for a couple of thousand miles, but now the engine check light has come back on an its in limp home mode again.
wondering if there are known faults with vectras that have done more than a hundred thousand miles?
might save a bit of time an money if anyone knows anything about these engines rather than take it apart to find the fault

Which engine is it?
I've had a few Vauxhalls and every time one has thrown an error code, it has been the actual sensor that's supposed to be monitoring something else that has failed.
Generally you shouldn't have worries taking a Vectra over the 150k mark, they're well capable of it.
Sounds like a couple of niggly electrical faults.

cdti
Really you're going to have to get it plugged in to find out what's up with it.
When I had a diesel it was the boost sensor that kept getting dirty, a quick clean and I'd be on my way again - don't know if that issue still exists on the newer diesels though.
