964 crash

This might be in a wrong map here, but it's a driving issue, so why not. (-edit: thought I was writing this in 'Advanced Driving')
There's this crash of a 964 I found and I was wondering what could be done to stop it:

Could he have been fine by just countersteering? It seems to me the car pretty much made up it's mind in that oversteer, and I'm not sure how it could be saved. Is it just too late, and did he enter the corner wrong/too fast in the first place?

Yup. Too much boot.

It looks to me like far too little, too late with the opposite lock.

I agree he booted it too much too soon. It looks as if he was trying to overtake the white car in front on the short straight, and so accelerated aggressively and held a tighter line out of the corner to try and come up the inside, both of which would have contributed to the car going sideways.

I've not driven a 911, but my certainly when my 250hp S13 goes sideways under power like that, I've always been able to catch it with the steering. I imagine in a 964 you have to be earlier and quicker with it, but I'd imagine it's perfectly catchable if you know what you're doing.

Apply opposite lock quicker.....


He can't have known the car very well or the grip levels as he didn't wind on the lock quick enough either that or he cacked himself when it let go and just froze....

porsche chsaracterics, the pendulum effect.. momentum carried one way that came back and the force shifted the whole car.

Also, he took that corner a bit tighter than the car in front. The edge of the road looks to drop off a little so I reckon that when he floored it only half of the rear left was in contact with tarmac. That'd be enough to spin it like a top in those conditions I would think.

To me, I think the thing that undid him was that just after the apex there seems to be a hump on the road. A combination of his lead foot and the lightening of the rear caught him off guard.

Same thing happened to me 2 months ago,although i was much faster and coming out of a bend,lifted off,the back-end slipped,counter-lock on 3 times and than spun.

watching this definitely it wasnt LOO,but the terrible lack of counter-lock on is sure.

These VW's are not easy to control.
