What car??

Currently "rockin'" a Peugeot 207 as an interim car and i HATE it! The only thing it has going for it is how cheap it is to run.

So I'm looking to px it and should get iro £3k and have another £3k to spend on top for something :
- good around London (i.e. good in traffic as I do a lot of short trips for work)
- about 8k pa
- comfortable for my bad back
- at least a bit sporty
- not French
- max £6k
- cheap to run
- climate control a must
- reliable for work
- pref sub 10s to 60
- min 25mpg urban
- more grown-up than the Pug

Thoughts so far:
BMW 118 Sport
Honda Civic Type S

Help me please...I can't get a car that I really want (Nissan 350z or similar) as it's just not practical, and I cannot decide on a car that doesn't really excite me but I need. What do you guys do in this situation? 2 cars not possible yet unfortunately.

ETA: I encounter many speed-humps on a daily basis
