Problems cancelling insurance...
Discussion
I recently took out a new insurance policy with Elephant. My previous insurance was with Admiral and the policy expired on the 15th.
I contact them on the 15th to say I was going to Elephant (their sister company) as they couldn't match the price. All was fine and they didn't try to match the 'rival' quote so I just left it at that.
Now they have taken money from my bank account for my 'renewal' despite Elephant emailing me to confirm they had contacted Admiral to get proof of NCB and Admiral confirming this in an email to me.
I can't seem to speak to the right person to get this sorted and just keep getting transferred to an 'on hold' facility. Anyone got any advice?

If you can provide proof of 2 policies covering the same risk at the same time you have the right to a refund on whichever policy you wish to cancel so you will definitely get your money back.
It probably happened because you left it so late (renewal day really!?) so the DD couldnt be clawed back. Phone from free phone and stay on hold untill you speak to someone in accounts and arrange for the money to be returned. I dont even think they will ask for proof of insurance or anything as they had notification of intention to lapse the policy and the money was probably taken in error due to lead times.
