German tuning company Brabus is expanding its customisation business to include private and business jets.
You'll already know that Brabus does a fine job of making your fast Mercedes into a very fast Mercedes indeed, and you may know that it also works its magic on yachts. Now, though, Brabus is moving into the arena of aircraft tweakery.
First up is layout, then there are the aesthetic considerations - we're talking wood, leather, Alcantara, carbon fibre, trick ambient lighting, that sort of thing.

Make your Brabus fly. Or rather, make your flier a Brabus...
Although it says it will do larger private aircraft (presumably if you wave a large enough cheque in front of its corporate face), Brabus is focusing on small narrowbody aircraft such as the Bombardier Global Express.
Sadly, given the car tuning arm's ability to work magic on a V12, Brabus won't be making any mechanical modifications to a plane's handling or its engines. Instead, the bulk of the modification will be inside the craft, where customers start more or less from a clean sheet.
Brabus also offers a bespoke in-flight entertainment system that connects with an iPad or iPhone and can be removed from the plane and easily integrated into a car once you've landed. Nice. Brabus will even let customers design their jet's paint job - though the company does warn that exterior modifications can be tricky due to the strict regulations about the livery on aircraft.
As for a price for Brabus's aviation services (undertaken by RUAG Aviation in Munich, by the way), it's probably a case of 'if you have to ask...'

I don't think you quite understand how electronic technology works.... bespoke doesn't mean better, not by a long way. Of course if you were really sad enough, there's no reason you couldn't gold plate your tablet, but it would make it worse.

Dont the super rich buy "Vertu" phones ? which from what I can see are ten year old Nokia's running poxy Symbian but covered in "Rich Stuff" with a posh name, you must be really keen on showing your wealth to have a phone that is fairly crap compared to the most basic Iphone or Android, or do the rich get their Iphones jazzed up with gold an jewels now, I quite like the fact that despite being a billionaire they cant buy a better device than any punter with £500 in their pocket.Not saying they are bad, as I have both, but perhaps not worthy of the wow factor for the uber-rich
Bespoke plane refits have been around forever, this is just a branding exercise, if they dont fit a pair of F18 engines to your Learjet then it is all a bit meh.

Have a lot of experience in this field do you? These common place items may not be the height of luxury, but are found everywhere. In fact I can control just about everything on my boat from any one of 30 iPads. Very handy (and familiar) interfaces. They are found in more "uber-expensive luxury" places than you might think, not necessarily as an object of desire, but as a simple tool. Not saying they are bad, as I have both, but perhaps not worthy of the wow factor for the uber-rich
Would have been impressive if you could some how drive your car into the back of the plane. Guess you'd need a bigger jet, but it would be an impressive way of delivering a customers vehicle.
As for the Vertu phone brand, it's for sale. The whole appeal wasn't only the exclusivity factor, but also the 24hr personal assistant you got plus other benefits.
Anyway, these 'rich' you speak of just use iPhones, Androids and Blackberrys, like the rest of us. Actually probably not so much with Android devices, too much faffing about with those phones. Billionaires haven't got time to faff about.
Out of the handful of jets that end up being refurbed by Brabus, the majority will be used by Brabus execs to ferry about themselves, and customers. And there's nothing wrong with that.

And I do appreciate exactly why they are used and why bespoke does not mean better.

ked with the private jet IFE market, before there was a load of testing needed for IFE controlers, expensive programming etc, now you can control your jets IFE from an ipad, which is considered a carry on item and so not subjected to all the testing.
