help with cost of mot after agreeing a price?

i have made an offer on a car, which i think is a reasonable and fair offer. the offer is subject to car having a full mot which is due today.
during the mot it has been found that it needs about £700 to get it through the mot.
now the cost of the car is about £3250
would it be fair for the seller to up the asking price
should i offer to contribute as thats quite a bill
or should i insist on previous agreed price

See if you can find one for sale without an MoT and see what they're worth. Car is unusable as is other than as spares / repair, so would need to be something special to warrant a sale price similar to one with an MoT.

Presumably, you offered a price which you thought was fair for a car which could pass a full MOT inspection. This car clearly cannot pass that inspection. It's up to the seller to meet the conditions of your offer if he wishes to accept it.

If you think you're getting a good deal, it would be a decent thing to offer to contribute towards the cost of repairs, but the seller should not be seeking to recover them from you.

The offer was for the car passing the MOT.

So I'd either let the seller get the work done and sell to you at the agreed price.

Or the preferred option is give them the option of selling the car to you without the repairs minus £750 from the price. So £2500. This allows the seller to obtain the same money for the vehicle as they would receive from selling to you at the agreed price and getting the work done, without the hassle of getting the work done.

The benefit to you is that you can get the car repaired and know that it has passed properly rather than butcher to obtain a sale.

the car is in the mot place now,
its a high profile mot place so i dont think the work will be shoddy, it may be a bit overpriced though.
im presuming the car will be back tomorrow with the mot done and the seller out of pocket by £700.
i believe in karma, so i will probably offer to pay a third towards the work ( once i see the bill and any advisories)
i think the car is a good price , and a good deal for both of us.

Why don't you wait and see what the seller says about it before looking to make any offers etc or negotiations...
