problem: broken down in sahara desert. solution? no problem for Emile Leray, who it seems just took his broken 2CV to pieces built a motocycle from it, in the desert, with barely any tools

Excellent! I liked his "transmission"- fix one brake drum in position so the differential sends all the power to the other one, which turns the rear wheel *by friction*. Of course, this meant that to go forward he had to use reverse gear...
