Baby in car - Tinting rear windows

I need to get some kind of sun protection for the back of my car, to transport a baby.
I have read some reviews and looked at some of the sun shades such as the WindowSox, etc.
Would it be just as effective to get the rear windows tinted ? ( Like http://www.windowfilmcentre.co.uk/index.php/films/... )
The car is a 530D (E60).

When our kids were little we had a sucession of those winnie the pooh rollerblinf thingys, they kind worked and gave the kids something to pull at in the car which amused them, but they broke alot and I dont think they helped much with the sun (plus they look rubbish)We had windowfilm put on our current jeep and it seems to be neater option, it probably cost the same as all the winnie the poohs we bought over the first few years!
Put "privacy shades" into the eBay search function: brilliant. No need for dealer tint/ gangster glass; no need for blinds with cartoon characters that ping off if you drop the window; keep bugs out and still give protection if window is open. Got ours from motorcare.

hope that helps.Had privacy shades in the back of an MB Class Wagon and was quite impressed with them, they can also be sold on if you change the vehicle.

Our current car is factory tinted (BMW E61) which I find equally as good for privacy/heat/light with the kids in the back. If you do go for tints make sure you get them done properly though and stick to the factory tint level IMO.

Have used the Windowsox jobbies on the Saab with no problems, quick, easy, stop the sun etc. Been on and off both rear doors for the past year or so, since SWH jnr could reach and destroy the roller blinds I think.
Direct sun in the face was the initial problem, very handy for darkening the back of the car for a sleep, not for me obviously.
Bit faded from the sun now, but still fine. Frost didn't seem to kill them either.

I'm not a great fan of tints in general, and I think getting just the rear half done might look a little odd. I would also have to locate someone who is good at doing them, and find some time to get it done.

I had tints put on the XF and used the kiddie as the excuse. Ended up getting far too dark a tint and absolutely hated it, not quite limo tint, but not far off.
Once baby did arrive, something that did fall into place was that the wife could feed the little one in the back whilst parked in a car park, without people staring at her with her jubblies hanging out.

Had the same issue as the OP in my 650. I wasn't getting tints as for it to be effective, you need to go quite dark which just makes you look like a bell end.
I've ordered my A6 with the blinds built into the doors. I would have ordered a set of the privacy shades as mentioned here, but they don't make them for the current model.

I'd not hesitate in recommending Windowsox http://www.windowsox.co.uk/ Brilliant sun protection, piece of cake to fix and can't be pulled off by the kids. Also allows you to open the windows whilst they are fitted, and fit so snugly that from a distance look like tints rather than the Winnie the Pooh blinds which I personally can't abide.
I once spoke to a BMW dealer who said they could retro tint the windows with film, but a proper job with the windows out (so the tint doesn't stop at the seal) - not cheap but as good as the original darkened glass and with a BMW dealer warranty.

Carl_w seems to be a bit of a troll to be honest...Never seen these blind things, whilst our baby isn't due until October I have received (yet more) criticism for buying a 3-door hatchback, in that "window blinds won't fit the back windows" of my MK1 Focus as they are too triangular and don't open.
These privacy blind things look like they've just saved me from another argument...
